The inhabitants of Eger are rightly proud of their town, values, famous people.

Even if we look up in the sky we can find peculiaritie in this respect. The proof of the long past of astronomy in the town is Specula, observatory on the top of the tower of Lyceum, opened in 1776 by the designs of Miksa Hell and which is one of the most interesting sights in the town even nowadays.

The name of Miksa Hell is preserved also by a crater on the Moon and by a little planet, 3727 Maxhell, too.

3103 Eger little planet is the one approaching the orbit of the Earth, too. It was discovered by a Hungarian astronomer, Miklós Lovas.

Eger is one of the few Hungarian settlements which was named a crater on  Mars – Eger-cater is 12.25 kms in diameter.

A 3-4km little planet revolving 435 million kms from the Sun, going round it in 4.97 years got its number in 2007 and got its name: Géza Gárdonyi,  the author of the most famous novel about the town :Stars of Eger. The planet was discovered by Krisztián Sárneczky.

The youngest Star of Eger is a new white cuvée wine, a worthy companion of the favourite Bikavér (Bull's Blood).
